In the context of our present troubles, I recommend some reading, nothing to do with football, but much for Barry. 1. The Barry Railway, by D.S.M. Barrie, Oakwood Press, reprinted with additions 1983 2. Rails to Prosperity: the Barry & After 1884-1984, by Brian J. Miller, Regional Publications (Bristol) Limited 1984 3. Top Sawyer: David Davies of Llandinam [statue @ Barry Docks] by Ivor Bulmer-Thomas, Golden Grove (Carmarthen) 1988 4 -The History of the Barry Railway Company 1884-1921, by R.J.Rimell, published by the Western Mail, Cardiff as a 'special' in 1922/3 ( the year it was subsumed by the grouping into the G.W.R), long out of print, but there's a copy in the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, and you may be able to borrow a copy (I was) from local library.
If you think we're going through hard times now, then read that lot: and see how we overcame against all odds.
