Can anyone clear up the situation at the above clubs for me?
From what I can gather, they were both wrongly relegated last season and are now in dispute with the FAW? They are now 8-10 games behind, a deficit which will be very hard to claw back.

Yes. They were indeed relegated on basis of having finished fourth from bottom, and appealed, having been assured previously that regation was only for bottom three. But with Afan Lido relegated from WPL and nobody from Div 1 eligible for promotion (itself a travesty) it was either that or 17 clubs in Div 1 and Welsh League/FAW weren't having it.
So they went to arbitration (?Sports Council - not sure the precise name of the body) but lost. So they played their first games this season in Div 2/3 respectively yeaterday.
Shame. I consider they were treated very shabbily. Maybe instead of going to arbitration they should gone to Court. Much quicker (witness ourselves) and better prospect of a fair hearing. And no backlog whether they won or not.
Will be especially difficult for Ammanford Town as Div 3 still has 19 clubs, so it's 36 games to play: 30 for Cwmbran Celtic. Plus cup/league cup - both are still in both competitions where they have played their prior matches undefeated - though Ammanford had a bye in Lge Cup.
But both have had a good start, especially Ammanford who have begun with an 11-0 away win at Newport Civil Service, which when we played away last season we only won 2-0! so they're already off bottom spot, 22 points behind the leaders (Llanelli) but with 8 games in hand! Could be a good few evening games in the dark winter months. Which may need to be the away ones if (as I think - not been there) they have no floodlights.
I wish both sides well. We're due to play Cwmbran Celtic 22/11 (a) & 28/2 (h).

Cheers Gladstone!
I don't see why they didn't just keep Lido in the Prem if no club was eligible to take their place. In fact, that's how I thought it worked.

Come on Mike what you said is common sense. I have been saying for many years that if the FAW and the Welsh League don't come up with some new ideas re promotion/relegation Welsh football will stagnate. It might help that if a club want to take promotion to the Premier they would need to be financially secure and that their ground must have at least 80% of the required standards. They would be admitted and given 2 seasons to get their ground up to required standard. Then, as they are in the Premier they will be able to access the funds that are present going to the same Premier clubs every season. I would also offer a place down to 4th position in the 1st Division for admission to the Premier. If they did this it would have meant that Haverfordwest could have gone back up last season.

The trouble with that is that for many clubs getting their ground up to the level FAW require is a physical impossibility due to location. Monmouth Town are a classic example. Their ground simply cannot get there, so they've had to move to Abergavenny which is miles from their home base. The standards FAW are ridiculous for clubs which seldom attract a 4 figure gate. But I agree with the last sentence, totally.
